Three Card Brag is an extraordinary British card gambling game. The game is also termed as Brag or Three-card brag or 3-card brag. Though it is quite similar to poker but differs a lot as far as betting style and hand rankings are concerned. Three Card Brag has variations of Four Card and also Five Card. There are some other games too that are called 6-card, 7-card, 9-card and 13-card Brag.
The regular 52 card pack is used to play in the Three Card Brag. Jokers are not included in the game. The cards of all suits are ranked in a general order going from high to low. It can be said as A – K – Q – J – 10 – 9 – 8 – 7 – 6 – 5 – 4 – 3 – 2. The number of players may differ, however it is perhaps best for approx. 4 to 8 people.
Three Card Brag rules are very important for the players to know. Before you start off, it is crucial that all the players have the same opinion on the stake. They should have a general knowledge and understanding about the rules to carry on with the game harmoniously. It is essential for the players to agree on—
The ante or the initial stake—It is the sum that all the players have to contribute to put in the pot before each deal take place.
The minimum and max initial bet—The sum that the first Three Card Brag player bets so as to be in the hand
The limit on the sum with which the bet can be improved by each of the subsequent player
Any variations may happen with the vital rules depending on the place you are playing, for instance the use of wild cards.
All player Three Card Brag players have the option to bet or fold. In case, of a previous bet, the player has to contribute at least that amount more to the pot in the game. Being different to the general poker betting, the previous money chipped in the pot is neglected.
The betting in Three Card Brag moves on until there are just two of the players left. At this point, the players may double the earlier bet to ‘see’ the opponent. Or at this place, the two hands are showed and the player who has a better hand becomes the winner of the whole pot. In case, there is a tie, the player who had loses before, may be in problem.
